In what seems to be the most dreaded year of the century, the Goo Goo Dolls were forced to reschedule their tour for next summer due to the pandemic. The band however put on one hell of a rock production along with live-streaming platform FanTracks to tide fans over until we can be together again.
Titled Grounded with the Goo Goo Dolls, the show featured a fully live show with all the usual concert production, plus the ability for fans to access multi-camera views of the action. Inner Machine fan club members could also purchase virtual meet & greet (via zoom), q & a with the band, and purchase exclusive merchandise.
Hosted by legendary music journalist Matt Pinfield, the show began with an interview pre-show 30 minutes prior, covering some of the band’s greatest hits, music videos, and highlights of their career, as well as their plans for the future.
The setlist was absolutely fantastic, covering songs from their entire catalog:
Indestructible
Big Machine
Miracle Pill
Here Is Gone
Smash
January Friend
Slide
Black Balloon
So Alive
Acoustic # 3
Not Broken
Name
Stay With You
Dizzy
Fearless
Life’s A Message
Bringing On The Light
Tattered Edge
Broadway
Autumn Leaves
Iris
To the fan’s surprise, the band returned for an after-show interview, responding to questions fans had previously sent over video phone throughout the day. It was a great opportunity to ask the band things you have always wanted to know. Although only a handful of questions were picked, it was definitely a treat.
One thing that I absolutely loved was having the opportunity to share this moment with so many Goo Goo Dolls fans that are spread throughout the world. Through the magic of Twitter, we were able to sing along (posting lyrics to songs as they played), commenting on the performance, sharing our memories on particular songs, and all-around having a wonderful time.
As I mentioned to FanTracks on Twitter, Goo Goo Dolls fans definitely got a treat last night, it was something that was needed. It healed our hearts and gave us a reason to laugh, dance, and smile again despite the crazy times we’re living in. Thank you, Goo Goo Dolls for always being there for us.
If you want to relive the “Grounded with the Goo goo Dolls show, perhaps watch on a different camera angle in “Director’s Chair, ” the whole concert is now available on-demand on live.fantracks.com
I’ve watched A LOT of streaming shows during pandemic and this one just kicked it out of the park @googoodolls @FanTracksLive

I don’t know what to do with emotions right now😭 I loved every second, but I miss this so very much. Being there in person, the crowd of people. It’s a whole vibe that can’t be explained.
